Chronicle of the Hotel Schattauer in Wagrain
The "Schattauer Wirt" is detectable since 1689.
It was owned by several generations of the family Schattauer from 9.3.1705 until 28.11.1795, since this time it has got the name "Schattauer Wirt."
Since 3.3.1910, the hotel is in ownership of some generations of the family Beer.
In winter 2010 we were celebrating our
100-year anniversary.
That certainly several hundred year old inn and the bakery next to it was destroyed by fire on 21 September 1944
The reconstruction was done in the difficult time at the end of the world war in 1945-46.
The building was built on old foundation walls, with bricks from bomb ruins from Salzburg and Linz, the upper floors were built of wood. In the following years several expansions and quality improvments were done to meet the rising standards.
Due to the (war caused) bad construction material with which the inn was built, an additional renovation did not seem reasonable in the early 1990´s.
After a long planning period family Beer decided to tear down the old inn and built a new hotel in summer 1994.
