K.H. Waggerl is one of Austria’s most important authors. Waggerl wrote his literary works in Wagrain, while his former home is now a museum .
In 1920, Karl Heinrich Waggerl accepted a teaching position in Wagrain. A chronic lung ailment forced him to quit his teaching job and so he started his writing career.

At the beginning he wrote authored novels, later then he turned to shorter prose forms. K. H. Waggerl lived until his death in 1973 here in Wagrain .
